Just In: Oyebanji Pledges-Commitment To Public Welfare-Initiatives (Text)

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji announced that his administration has repositioned the state by prioritizing public welfare and creating economic opportunities for its citizens. He emphasized that these efforts have significantly improved the residents’ standard of living and built on the economic development programs of his predecessors.

During a meeting with Ekiti stakeholders in Abuja on Tuesday, Oyebanji highlighted his administration’s achievements over the past year and a half. He asserted that his government operates with a deep sense of responsibility, guided by the principles of transparency and accountability.

The governor disclosed that over 17 billion naira has been spent on pensions, gratuities, car, and housing loans for Ekiti public servants since he took office.

The stakeholders’ meeting at the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, included senior Ekiti indigenes in the Federal Civil Service, top officials from federal parastatals and agencies, paramilitary organizations, and members of the Ekiti Caucus of the National Assembly and State Executive Council. Notable attendees included the first Governor of the State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Minister of Solid Minerals Dr. Dele Alake, and Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye.

Governor Oyebanji emphasized his administration’s focus on transforming the state’s economy into a productive and self-sufficient powerhouse by leveraging local resources for sustainable development. He described the stakeholders’ engagement as part of his policy of inclusion and partnership with critical stakeholders to achieve the shared prosperity agenda.

He called for collaboration from federal workers to facilitate further development in the state, urging them to use their positions to provide information that can create opportunities for the people of Ekiti. Oyebanji also expressed his commitment to productivity and economic growth, noting that his administration has engaged over 600 youths in agribusiness initiatives.

Reeling out his administration’s achievements, the governor mentioned reconnecting over 45 communities to the power grid, infrastructure interventions, providing free education, regular payment of salaries and pensions, and healthcare service improvements. Additionally, steps have been taken to ensure pay parity between state and federal health workers.

Oyebanji concluded by seeking support from the stakeholders to further enhance the state’s development and improve the quality of life for its citizens. He emphasized the importance of shared vision and purpose to achieve the goals set by his administration.
