Just In: Three Killed, 30 Others Kidnapped As Bandits Attack Kaduna Churches

In a tragic incident, armed bandits attacked two churches in Bakinpah-Maro, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing at least three people and abducting 31 others. The attack, which occurred on Sunday during church services, targeted the ECWA and Catholic churches in the area.

Among those kidnapped was a pastor, Bernard Gajera. The former chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, Cafra Caino, confirmed the attack, stating that the gunmen arrived around 10 a.m. and opened fire indiscriminately at worshippers.

Efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Munir Hassan, for a statement were unsuccessful.

This attack comes just a week after bandits abducted an unknown number of nurses from a Primary Health Care Center in Layin Dan Auta village, Birnin Gwari Area. According to local sources, the assailants had initially targeted a nearby primary school but, finding no students, turned their attention to the hospital, abducting the nurses on duty.

As security concerns grow, local leaders have expressed their alarm over the increasing banditry in the region.
