Lagos Assembly Endorses Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Re-Election, Calls For Nationwide Backing
Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have unanimously endorsed Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, urging political stakeholders across the country to rally support for his re-election bid. According to Ireporter Online, the resolution was adopted during plenary on Tuesday following a motion presented by Ladi Ajomale, who represents Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II.
While presenting the motion, Ajomale outlined key accomplishments of the current administration over the past three years, stressing that ongoing reforms and policy initiatives require continuity to achieve lasting impact. He referenced major interventions such as the student loan scheme, the removal of fuel subsidy, and large-scale infrastructure developments including the Lagos Coastal Road as critical milestones that should be sustained through a second term.
The motion received strong backing from lawmakers, with Deputy Leader Richard Kasumu noting improvements in Nigeria’s foreign reserves and highlighting a growing trade surplus as evidence of the administration’s economic direction. Other contributors, including Temitope Adedeji, commended efforts to strengthen local government autonomy, describing it as a major step toward enhancing grassroots governance, while Gbolahan Yishawu praised reforms in the education sector, particularly initiatives such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the introduction of a consumer credit scheme.
In her remarks, Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda applauded improvements in the country’s global perception alongside ongoing development projects, noting progress in addressing challenges related to passport processing. Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, stated that the endorsement reflects the collective position of their constituents, expressing confidence in Tinubu’s ability to sustain national development and urging lawmakers to mobilize support at the grassroots level as the motion was formally adopted.
