Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Obasa Responds To Governor Rumors, Focuses On Party Strengthening
Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, clarified on Thursday that he has not seriously considered running for governor, despite ongoing speculation. In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Eromosele Ebhomele, Obasa emphasized that his focus remains...READ MORE…
on strengthening the state’s political party, not pursuing a governorship bid.
Obasa explained that his efforts to mobilize support for the party have been misunderstood by some as a personal ambition to become governor. He firmly denied these claims, stating that his primary goal is to build the party, and any discussions of the governorship race are secondary.
The Speaker made these remarks following the presentation of the 2025 budget by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, which included a proposed budget of over N3 trillion. While acknowledging the economic challenges, Obasa urged Nigerians to remain hopeful about the nation’s recovery under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
Obasa also addressed misconceptions about his family background and refuted rumors that he had made payments to gain political legitimacy, stressing that his ambition, if it ever materialized, would be based on his own merits, not family connections.
