Last Man Standing: Saliu Mustapha’s Resilience Attracts Applause As APC Converge For National Convention

The wait is almost over, on Saturday is the day of judgment as the APC finally holds its much anticipated national congress that is set to birth a new leadership for the party.

The journey to Saturday’s congress has not been easy, spanning almost two years, it has suffered one setback or the other, the party just kept pushing the date forward.

All this while there have been lots of alignments and realignments, endorsements etc. Support and betrayals obviously must have played their own role in the whole script.

Money which seems to be a major criterion in an electoral contest definitely would be the major victim in the whole game. Aspirants specifically for the position of the National Chairmanship seat have transversed the length and breadth of Nigeria seeking support.

The consultation visits to reaching out to party delegates and consistently keeping in touch for over a year with these contacts can be boring and financially frustrating.

In reality what can be done without money in these contemporary times? Until the philosophy which makes an aspirant not appear like a money bag meant to throw money around for support is abolished it would always be a WAR ZONE seeking electoral offices.

With the chairmanship finally zoned to the North Central, Mallam Saliu Mustapha the Turaki of Ilorin is closer to clinching the top job.

With a shortlist of a few aspirants left for the contest, Saliu Mustapha happens to be amongst the last man standing without a single paraphernalia TAG of an Ex-Governor or a Serving Senator.

Nigerians both within the country and the diaspora have voiced out their appreciation over the way and manner the Turaki of Ilorin have soldiered on despite the hurdles and deterrents along the tedious journey.

Here is a short compilation from eminent Nigerians on Saliu Mustapha’s resilience ahead of the March 26th APC National Convention.

“Saliu Mustapha will redeem the image and quest of Nigerian youths as national chairman of APC”-Hon Nuhu Sani Lere, Secretary-General Arewa Youth Forum.

” Loyalty should count for something” -Amenah.

” Aside from Saliu Mustapha being the earliest to signify interest for the race, he has carried himself with dignity, humility and great caution, of all the aspirants only Saliu Mustapha is at the Vanguard of selling the party the APC with every single opportunity at his disposal.

He has proven to be a core party man who is ready to sacrifice is all to see the greatest of the All Progressive Congress, as the only man standing who is not an Ex this or Ex that, he has outperformed his competitors in the game, his experience, temperament and charisma despite the huge financial constraints have shown that Saliu Mustapha is the most prepared man for the job”- Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah, Editor in Chief iReporteronline.
