As of February 7, 2025, Nigerians are feeling the pinch as prices for essential food items such as rice, beans, and tomatoes continue to skyrocket. The surge is fueled by a mix of high inflation, currency devaluation, and agricultural disruptions caused by security challenges and extreme weather conditions.

  • Rice: ₦75,000–₦90,000 per 50kg bag
  • Beans: ₦78,000–₦85,000 per 50kg bag
  • Tomatoes: ₦55,000 per basket
  • Yam: ₦3,000–₦4,000 per tuber
  • Palm Oil: ₦50,000 per 25-liter container
  • Chicken: ₦5,000 per kg
