Low Turnout As Kaduna, Kano, Katsina Residents Avoid One-Million-Man Protests
The one-million-man nationwide protests saw little to no participation in Kaduna, Kano, and Katsina States on Saturday, as residents went about their regular socio-economic activities undisturbed.
Reports from Ireporteronline reveal that the usual hustle and bustle persisted, with markets, motor parks, and other businesses operating as usual. Security personnel were actively patrolling major streets, ensuring the protection of critical state and national assets.
The Kaduna State Government, through the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, reiterated that unauthorized processions remain prohibited in the state, citing public safety and security concerns. He warned that any criminals disguising as protesters to create unrest would face severe consequences.
In Kano and Katsina, residents and local leaders alike expressed their decision to abstain from the protests, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and lawful conduct in addressing grievances. The situation across these states remained calm, with no significant disruptions reported.
