Lukman Reveals Adamu’s Greatest ‘Sin’

On Sunday, the National Vice Chairman, Northwest, of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Moh. Lukman, expressed concern over the level of impunity during the leadership of the former National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

He pointed out that the peak of this impunity was when Adamu attempted to unilaterally impose a presidential candidate on the party, despite objections from state governors and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Lukman mentioned that during Adamu’s leadership, the party’s statutory organs were frozen, and there were no meetings held for party organs. The National Working Committee (NWC) became mere observers, as the National Chairman and National Secretary assumed excessive powers within the party.

One significant event that highlighted this power struggle was when Adamu tried to impose Senator Ahmad Lawan as the APC’s 2023 Presidential Candidate.

However, Progressive Governors and many NWC members intervened, leading to the selection of President Bola Tinubu as the party’s candidate for the 2023 elections.

Despite resolving this issue, Lukman emphasized that the APC continued to face unhealthy situations during the 2023 election campaigns and the negotiations for National Assembly leadership positions. It appeared that the party, under Adamu’s leadership, was either challenging President Tinubu’s authority or working in conflicting directions.
