Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Tuesday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, fifteen days after the monarch’s passing.

According to iReporter Online, the Governor visited the late royal father’s private residence in the Alalubosa area of Ibadan, where he was warmly received by members of the royal household, including Prince Sumbo Olakulehin, Prince Osuolale Olakulehin, Princess Olutosin Olakulehin, and Prince Akinwumi Olakulehin.

During the visit, Governor Makinde expressed his heartfelt condolences and assured the bereaved family of his personal involvement in the burial rites and arrangements to honor the late monarch’s legacy. Oba Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, passed away on July 7, 2025, marking the end of a traditional reign that was widely respected within and beyond Oyo State.

The Governor’s presence was described as a symbolic gesture of solidarity with the Olubadan-in-Council and the people of Ibadan at large, as the city prepares to bid farewell to one of its most revered traditional rulers.
