Man Returns Over N328,000 In Salaries Paid To Late Father, Gives Reason
In an extraordinary display of integrity, 32-year-old businessman Yusuf Suleiman from the Sumaila Local Government Area of Kano State has chosen to return a substantial sum of money mistakenly paid into his late father’s bank account by the Kano State Government.
The total amount returned stands at N328,215.75, highlighting Suleiman’s unwavering commitment to principles of honesty and transparency.
Suleiman’s late father, Suleiman Datti (Magatakardan Sumaila), held the position of a clerical officer on Grade Level 06 in the Sumaila Local Government Area of Kano State.
Tragically, he passed away on November 10, 2022, following a brief illness. At the time of his passing, he left behind one wife and 11 children, with Yusuf being the eldest.
Yusuf Suleiman, a dedicated businessman involved in various enterprises such as cattle trading and rice farming, made headlines when he chose to return the accumulated salaries mistakenly paid into his late father’s bank account.
The Kano State Government had inadvertently deposited N328,115.75 into the account.
Yusuf’s motivation for this extraordinary act stems from his unwavering devotion to his faith and his desire to uphold the principles of honesty and integrity. He firmly believes that returning the money was the right thing to do, not only to honor his late father’s memory but also out of a deep sense of moral duty.
Yusuf, a graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Resources from Cambridge International College, Britain, Sudan Campus, attributes his strong moral compass to the teachings and influence of his late father. His father’s emphasis on living a principled life characterized by honesty and integrity has profoundly impacted Yusuf’s worldview.
In his pursuit of providing for his family after his father’s passing, Yusuf has taken on the immense responsibility of being the primary provider for his 10 siblings. Despite the challenges and burdens that come with this role, he remains resolute in his commitment to their well-being.
