Matawalle Replies Critics On His Appointment As Minister Of State For Defence

Mohammed Bello Matawalle expressed his determination to prove his critics wrong and validate his appointment as the Minister of State for Defence by President Bola Tinubu.

Despite facing criticism from the opposition regarding his appointment, citing security challenges in Zamfara State during his governorship tenure, Matawalle confidently asserted his capability to excel in his new role.

Speaking at a reception held in his honor in Abuja, Matawalle emphasized that the key factors for success in the role are determination, courage, and the opportunity to contribute positively.

Addressing those who doubt his and his colleague Badaru’s ability to serve as defence ministers, he highlighted that their capacity to handle security matters is rooted in their understanding of the complexities involved.

During his time as the governor of Zamfara State, Matawalle recounted his administration’s successful efforts to ensure security, including periods of 100 days without security challenges and 9 months without any harm coming to citizens.

Matawalle emphasized his commitment to the people of Zamfara State, reassuring them that he will not let them down. He expressed confidence that with divine assistance, they will overcome the prevailing security challenges. He also stated that those who doubt his and Badaru’s capabilities will ultimately witness the outcome as the work of God, not mere human efforts.

He concluded by highlighting their transition from seeking assistance in the past to being in a position to offer help to others.
