JAMB Stops Universities, Others From Selling Admission Application Forms

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a statement outlining that all applications for admission to first-degree programs, national diplomas, and other related programs must exclusively go through their system.

In a brief announcement titled “Cessation Of Illegal/Irregular Admission,” shared on its X platform on Wednesday, the examination body emphasized that institutions are prohibited from selling or promoting “application forms” for admissions.

JAMB stated, “All applications for admission to First Degree, National Diploma, National Innovation Diploma, and the Nigeria Certificate in Education, whether for Full-Time, Distance Learning, Part-Time, Outreach, Sandwich, and other modes, must be exclusively processed through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).”

Furthermore, institutions are instructed to direct their prospective candidates to apply to them via JAMB, with the reminder that the duplication of application forms is not permissible.

The statement also emphasized the collaboration between JAMB and regulatory bodies, including the National Universities Commission (NUC), the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), to ensure that all tertiary institutions adhere to this policy directive. It further noted that other professional regulatory agencies would also contribute to streamlining the admission process.
