Military To Continue Operations Even In Off-Farming Season – Top Commander
The Director of Defence Media Operations (DDMO), Major General Markus Kangye, on Thursday assured that the intensity of troops’ operations would be sustained throughout the farming season and beyond.
According to iReporter Online, he stated that the armed forces have continued to “demonstrate courage, resilience, and more determination to dismantle terrorist networks, defeat banditry, and combat all other forms of crime across all operational theatres.”
General Kangye disclosed this at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja during the weekly update on operational successes recorded by troops in conjunction with Hybrid Forces and other security agencies.
He noted, “Due to the intensity of our operations, farmers have continued to carry out their activities unhindered, thanks to the efforts of our troops. This will be sustained throughout the farming season and beyond.”
The operations included raids, ambushes, fighting patrols, and covert missions, with air support eliminating several Boko Haram, JAS, and ISWAP terrorists and destroying their camps.
According to iReporter Online, the briefing highlighted the successes of multiple Joint Task Forces, including OPERATION HADIN KAI (North East), OPERATION FASAN YAMMA (North West), OPERATION SAFE HAVEN and OPERATION WHIRL STROKE (North Central), as well as OPERATION UDO KA (South East) and OPERATION DELTA SAFE (South South).
In the North East, troops of OPERATION HADIN KAI, between 7–13 August 2025, conducted aggressive operations in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States.
The efforts led to the elimination of terrorists, arrest of 16 suspects, rescue of five kidnapped victims, and recovery of weapons, ammunition, and logistics. Additional operations neutralized more terrorists, dismantled networks, and supported the safe return of displaced persons to farming.
According to iReporter Online, in the North West, OPERATION FASAN YAMMA troops responded to intelligence in Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Kaduna States, eliminating terrorists, rescuing 17 kidnapped victims, and arresting several suspects.
In the North Central region, OPERATION SAFE HAVEN and OPERATION WHIRL STROKE recorded successes across Plateau, Kaduna, Bauchi, Benue, Taraba, Kogi States, and the FCT, neutralizing terrorists, recovering arms, and rescuing kidnapped victims, including arrests of notorious gunrunners.
Meanwhile, in the South South and South East, OPERATION DELTA SAFE troops foiled oil theft worth over N37.5 million, destroyed illegal refining sites, and arrested oil thieves, kidnappers, cultists, and other criminals in Rivers, Delta, and Bayelsa States, recovering arms, ammunition, and vehicles.
General Kangye concluded that these operations reflect the military’s commitment to securing citizens, enabling farming activities, and ensuring stability across all regions.
