NCAA Gives Green Light To Gusau Airport For 2026 Hajj Operations

According to Ireporter Online, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority) has commended the Zamfara State Government for the quality of work executed at the Gusau International Airport, following a technical inspection conducted ahead of its potential use for the 2026 Hajj operations.

The commendation followed an on-site assessment carried out by an NCAA delegation led by the General Manager, Aerodrome and Airspace Standards, Bayode B.S., who was represented by Director Ahmad Abba. The inspection formed part of the regulatory evaluation of key airport facilities, including the runway, terminal building, and control tower at the Gusau International Airport.

During the exercise, the regulatory team expressed satisfaction with the level of construction, noting that the infrastructure appeared to align with required aviation safety and operational standards. The delegation further described the development as a reflection of the Zamfara State Government’s commitment to delivering a modern and functional aviation facility.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Lawal Barau Bungudu, alongside other senior government officials, accompanied the NCAA team during the facility tour. The inspection is believed to represent one of the final technical steps toward the airport’s formal approval and commissioning.

Government officials noted that once operational, the facility is expected to enhance air connectivity within Zamfara State, stimulate economic activities, and provide improved transport convenience for residents. The airport is also projected to support future Hajj operations, easing travel challenges for intending pilgrims while strengthening the state’s aviation infrastructure.

The NCAA team further observed that the standard of construction demonstrated strong compliance with aviation requirements, adding that the facility shows promising potential for safe and efficient operations. The project is also expected to open up broader opportunities in trade, logistics, tourism, and related sectors.

The Zamfara State Government described the NCAA inspection as a significant milestone in the airport development process, stating that the positive feedback underscores the commitment to safety, quality, and operational readiness.
