Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a shipment of cocaine ingeniously hidden inside clothes hangers and sewn into dresses within a traveller’s luggage.

The bust, announced on Sunday by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, occurred during a routine airport screening at an undisclosed location.

Sharing a video of the seizure, Babafemi highlighted the evolving tactics of drug cartels, who now embed illicit substances in unsuspecting travel items.

He wrote, “How could anyone have imagined that cocaine is buried inside the hangers holding the clothes they’re travelling with or sewn into the dress in their luggage? But that’s the reality of the desperation by the cartels.”

The NDLEA has not disclosed the identity of the suspect or the total quantity of drugs seized but affirmed its commitment to staying ahead of increasingly sophisticated smuggling methods.
