NDLEA Strikes Hard: Busts Illicit Drug Syndicates Across Seven States, Seizes Massive Haul

In a sweeping crackdown on illicit drug trade, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant strides, apprehending numerous suspects and seizing a substantial quantity of narcotics across multiple states.

In a daring operation at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja, NDLEA operatives intercepted Ejike Chibuke Solomon, 40, as he attempted to board a flight to Vietnam via Ethiopia. Concealed in his luggage was a staggering 1.45 kilograms of cocaine, a brazen attempt foiled by the vigilant officers.

Further intensifying their efforts, a specialized unit of the NDLEA targeted a syndicate dealing in methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin. Raids across Lagos led to the apprehension of several members, including Evelyn Nneka Okem, who was found in possession of 10.012 kilograms of methamphetamine.

In Kogi state, a strategic stop-and-search operation along the Okene-Lokoja-Abuja expressway resulted in the interception of a commercial bus laden with 28 blocks of cannabis sativa, alongside codeine-based cough syrup and diazepam tablets.

Meanwhile, in Ogun state, law enforcement officials discovered a sizable consignment of 169 kilograms of cannabis abandoned in a truck at Sagamu tollgate, underscoring the widespread reach of the illicit drug trade.

The crackdown extended to Lagos, where authorities seized 25 cartons of tramadol containing a staggering 325,000 pills, signaling a resolute stance against the proliferation of narcotics.

In Kano, Abdullahi Garba Khalil was apprehended with a staggering 2,745,000 capsules of pregabalin, amplifying the magnitude of the NDLEA’s success in dismantling drug networks.

Notably, the NDLEA’s vigilance transcended land boundaries as well, with the 243 Recce Battalion of the Nigerian Army transferring 27 sacks of cannabis sativa weighing 1,110 kilograms to the Seme Special Area Command. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment to eradicating drug trafficking at all levels.

The agency’s relentless pursuit of justice also led to the arrest of Hassan Muhammad in Borno state, who was found in possession of 44,950 pills of tramadol, further underscoring the nationwide scope of the NDLEA’s operations.

From Abia to Kano, Lagos to Borno, the NDLEA’s resolute actions have dealt a significant blow to the scourge of drug trafficking, safeguarding communities and upholding the rule of law.
