New Commissioner Of Police Takes Charge In Edo State

The Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has received a new Commissioner by the name, Nemi Edwin-Iwo, Naija News reports.

The newly appointed commissioner commenced his duties on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, succeeding CP Funsho Adegboye as the 47th commissioner of the command.

A statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Moses Yamu, indicated that prior to this appointment, Edwin-Iwo served as the Commissioner of Police overseeing intelligence at the Force Intelligence Department, located at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Edwin-Iwo, originally from Okrika Local Government Area in Rivers State, possesses a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Port-Harcourt and a Master’s degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Ibadan.

He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and has advanced through the ranks since then.

Edwin-Iwo has held the position of Assistant Commissioner of Police at the Bauchi State Command and served as Commissioner of Police for the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, among various other roles.

Additionally, he has previously worked as the Police Public Relations Officer in both Lagos and Oyo states, as well as serving as a Divisional Police Officer in Bayelsa State.

The newly appointed commissioner is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and has participated in numerous tactical and leadership training programs both domestically and internationally.
