The complainant’s legal representative informed the court that the defendant had professed his love for his client and had agreed to marry her.

The complainant had expended money on the defendant under the assumption that they would eventually wed.

According to the representative, after his client had financially supported him, the defendant reneged on their agreement to marry, subsequently leaving her and ceasing his visits to her.

Upon the reading of the charges, the defendant entered a plea of not guilty.

Magistrate Salisu Hussaini directed both parties to present their witnesses during the next scheduled hearing.

Following the court proceedings, the woman expressed her thoughts, stating, “I have doubts that he didn’t use some sort of charm on me. I immediately fulfilled every request he made. I prepared various elaborate meals for him, including chicken, meat, and even two rams. I spent over N900,000 on him. However, after that, he began treating me indifferently. Eventually, he stopped visiting me.”
