Nigeria’s First Professor Of Medicine Is Dead (PHOTO)

Theophilus Oladipo Ogunlesi, the first Nigerian Professor of Medicine, has died at the age of 99.

Ogunlesi, an Emeritus Professor from the Ogun State town of Sagamu, died on Thursday.

In 1965, he became Nigeria’s first professor of medicine.

Ogunlesi began his medical career in 1947 at Yaba College of Medicine and continued his education at the University of London in 1953, where he became a registered Medical Officer in England.

The family confirmed his death in a statement signed by Adeleke Ogunlesi and shared by Tolu, Special Assistant on Digital/New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari.
