Nnamdi Kanu: IPOB To Impose Three-Week Sit-At-Home On Civil Servants – Simon Ekpa
Simon Ekpa, the factional leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has issued a threat to impose a three-week sit-at-home on civil servants in the Southeast region of Nigeria.
In a tweet on Tuesday morning, Ekpa stated that if IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is not released, a fresh sit-at-home will be implemented in the South Eastern states once the ongoing two-week lockdown ends.
The purpose of this action, according to Ekpa, is to exert financial pressure on the Nigerian government. He warned that only Nigerian civil servants in Biafraland would be subjected to the lockdown, and offices of the police, army, and other Nigerian officials within Biafraland would be closed for the specified duration.

The lockdown will continue until Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is released, and if the government fails to comply, the lockdown may extend to four weeks, severely affecting the government’s financial operations.
Earlier in July, Ekpa had announced a two-week sit-at-home in the South East, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Kanu, who is currently in detention at the DSS facility. The sit-at-home also serves as preparation for Biafra’s self-referendum and a demonstration of Biafrans taking charge of their future. The schedule for the two-week sit-at-home is from Monday, July 31, 2023, to Friday, August 4, 2023, with a total lockdown in Biafraland. On Saturday, August 6, and Sunday, August 7, 2023, there will be a break, and all Biafran markets will be open. The total lockdown will then resume from Monday, August 7, 2023, to Friday, August 11, 2023, with another break on Saturday, August 12, and Sunday, August 13, 2023, when markets will open again. The lockdown will continue on Monday, August 14, 2023.
Ekpa called on all market leaders to strictly adhere to the sit-at-home order and treat it with utmost seriousness.
