Northern Christians Praise DSS For Arresting Suspects Linked To Papiri School Abduction

The Northern Christian Association (NCA) has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) and its Director-General, Oluwatosin Ajayi, following the arrest of five individuals allegedly connected to the abduction of students and staff of St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State, which occurred in November 2025.

In a statement issued on Monday, the association’s chairman, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, said citizens should not only hold government institutions accountable when expectations are not met but should also acknowledge and appreciate positive achievements in the fight against insecurity.

According to the association, the arrest of individuals suspected of supplying weapons to criminal groups highlights the value of sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated security operations in addressing security challenges across the country. It noted that disrupting the networks responsible for providing arms and logistical support to terrorists is essential to weakening their operational capabilities and preventing further attacks on innocent citizens and vulnerable communities.

The NCA also recognised the sacrifices made by security personnel who continue to risk their lives despite being frequent targets of terrorist activities. The association urged security agencies to ensure that investigations are comprehensive and that all those linked to the crime are identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Hayab encouraged security operatives not to relent in their efforts to safeguard the nation, expressing confidence that stronger collaboration among security agencies, local communities and other stakeholders would contribute significantly to achieving a more peaceful, secure and united Nigeria.

The association further called on the Federal Government and security institutions to intensify ongoing efforts against terrorism and other violent crimes, stressing that sustained action is necessary to restore public confidence and strengthen national security.
