According to TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah, the company has collaborated with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to secure the area and facilitate the work of its engineers.

(Mrs.) Nafisatu Ali, TCN’s Executive Director for the Independent System Operator, emphasized that deploying engineers without security support is impractical due to the risks involved in the area. She reassured the public that the restoration process would not be indefinite, emphasizing TCN’s commitment to restoring power promptly.

“The ongoing outages in Northern states are directly linked to the vandalism of the Shiroro-Mando transmission line, a vital component for electricity supply in the region. The current insecurity has hindered immediate repairs,” she explained.

As a temporary solution, TCN has redirected bulk power supply through the Ugwuaji-Apir 330kV line, which has also faced issues.
