TCN Unveils New Information On National Grid Collapse – Is Your Area Affected

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company confirmed the incident through a statement from its spokesperson, Emeka Ezeh. Both the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company and Eko Electricity Distribution Company also reported the collapse.

TCN recorded no load allocation for the eleven Electricity Distribution Companies. However, the company has initiated efforts to recover the system and restore power supply.

In an interview with Daily Post, TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah explained that the national grid did not experience a complete failure, as the Akwa Ibom generating station was “islanded,” allowing it to continue supplying power through the Eket, Ekim, Uyo, and Itu 132 kilovolt substations.

She stated, “It was a partial system disturbance. The entire system did not collapse because the IBOM Generating Station was isolated to function independently and maintain supply to certain areas, preventing a total system failure. Recovery is currently underway and has made significant progress.”

As of this report, power has been restored in some regions of the country.
