The company emphasizes that investing in human capital is crucial, viewing employees as its most valuable asset. As a proudly indigenous oil and gas firm, Oando is committed to bridging the industry’s knowledge gap by nurturing top talents and providing them with opportunities to excel.

Historically, knowledge transfer in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector has been driven by structured programs under the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act of 2010. These efforts have empowered local companies and enhanced expertise, enabling indigenous firms to now oversee about 60% of the nation’s oil production. Through OGAP, Oando aims to further strengthen this progress by developing local talent.

Recognizing the shift towards indigenous leadership in the industry, Oando is taking proactive steps to ensure the next generation inherits vital expertise. Speaking on the 2025 OGAP initiative, Alero Balogun, General Manager of Human Resources & Business Support at Oando PLC, stated that the program aligns with the company’s commitment to sustainable development in the energy sector. She emphasized that OGAP not only identifies and trains local talent but also encourages young Nigerians abroad to return home and contribute to the nation’s prosperity.

The 2025 OGAP serves as a platform for young, innovative graduates eager to drive change in the oil and gas industry. Eligible candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least a Second Class Upper (2.1) in Engineering, Geosciences, Business Administration, Economics, or related fields. Applicants should be no older than 26 years as of January 1, 2025, have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) by April 2025, and possess no more than two years of work experience. Additionally, they must have earned at least five B’s and two C’s in a single SSCE, NECO, or GCE O-Level sitting, including Mathematics and English.
