He stressed his continued support for President Tinubu’s administration and emphasized his belief in Tinubu’s ability to improve Nigeria’s situation. Okupe further explained that claims attributing to him the idea that the North backing former President Goodluck Jonathan, or a joint ticket between Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, would spell defeat for Tinubu, were completely taken out of context.

According to Okupe, his original comments were made in reference to political strategists lacking deep insight, who mistakenly believed that such a scenario would lead to Tinubu’s defeat in 2027. He firmly rejected the distortion of his views and called the media reports a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
