Onanuga: NDC Lacks Clear Manifesto, Calls It A Haven For Desperate Politicians
According to Ireporter Online, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has faulted the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), alleging that the party lacks a clear manifesto and coherent policy direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Onanuga, in a post shared on his handle, said the opposition party, which has positioned itself as an alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has not made its governance blueprint publicly accessible. He claimed he visited the party’s official website on multiple occasions in search of its manifesto but was unable to find any downloadable document outlining its plans for Nigeria.
He further noted that although the website reportedly contains an invitation to view the manifesto, repeated attempts to access it returned no available file. According to him, even though the party was registered in February and has recently attracted high-profile politicians such as former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, it still has not presented a comprehensive policy framework.
The presidential aide added that he was particularly interested in comparing the party’s proposed agenda with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda but found only broad statements and general policy ideas, which he described as lacking depth and structure. He also argued that the listed policy points appeared similar to long-standing public positions associated with Peter Obi.
Onanuga challenged the party’s leadership, including its national figure, Senator Seriake Dickson, to clearly articulate its vision for the country, describing the party as a political platform attracting individuals seeking new alignments ahead of the next election cycle.
