According to Ireporter Online, the presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, on Friday held a closed-door meeting with former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in Abuja, where both leaders discussed the state of the nation and emerging dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting was described as a reunion of two long-time associates who previously worked closely in public service. During Jonathan’s tenure as Vice President, Hayatu-Deen served on the National Council on Privatization and chaired the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE). He also later contributed to the Presidential Advisory Committee during Jonathan’s leadership as Acting President and subsequently as President, a period both men are said to haWhatsApp Image 2026 05 09 at 8.26.04 AM 1536x1024.jpegve maintained mutual respect.

Hayatu-Deen was said to have used the visit to formally notify Jonathan of his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the ADC. Jonathan, in response, reportedly commended his ambition and wished him well in his political pursuit.

The former President was also praised during the visit for his continued role in promoting democracy and electoral integrity across Africa, where he remains a respected voice in governance and democratic advocacy.

The statement further noted that Hayatu-Deen, who brings over four decades of combined experience in both public and private sectors, pledged that if elected president, he would focus on job creation, economic revitalization, insecurity mitigation, cost-of-living reduction, and expanding employment opportunities for Nigerians.
