One Survives Chemical Explosion In Lagos

The victim was promptly rescued by personnel from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service along with other emergency responders.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred around 6 PM on Friday. The Agege Fire and Rescue team quickly contained the situation by extinguishing the flames resulting from the explosion of various kegs containing unknown chemicals that were stored in an open fenced area.

Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos Fire Service, stated that preliminary investigations revealed that the fire was triggered by the explosion of chemicals that were inadequately protected from sunlight.

Adeseye added that an investigation has been initiated to identify the owner of the chemicals and determine the type of substances stored in this residential area that were left exposed to direct sunlight.

“The rescued woman is currently receiving treatment for first-degree burns,” Adeseye noted.
