Orji Speaks Out Against EFCC Fraud Allegations

The former governor of Abia State and ex-senator for Abia Central, Theodore Ahamefule Orji, has distanced himself from a recent Federal High Court ruling involving a fraud case…READ MORE…

Reports indicated that a Federal High Court in Abuja had granted an interim forfeiture of over N228.4 million linked to Orji. The funds, allegedly proceeds of money laundering, were the subject of an ex-parte application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) under the leadership of Fadila Yusuf.

However, Orji denied the ruling, claiming that Erondu Uchenna Erondu, identified in the judgment as an aide to the state government, never served under his administration. Erondu, according to Orji, worked under the subsequent governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.

In a statement released by his media aide, Ifeanyi Umere, Orji rejected the reports as false and misleading. The statement explained that the matter involving Erondu, Austin Akuma of Keystone Bank, Effdee Nigeria Ltd, and the EFCC occurred years after Orji had left office as governor.

Orji’s team urged media outlets to fact-check their stories, and the former governor reiterated his willingness to cooperate with any anti-graft agency should the need arise, asserting that he had nothing to hide.
