Osun Government Appoints Davido As Chairman Of Sports Trust Fund

The Osun State Government has officially appointed Nigerian music icon David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, as the Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund.

According to Ireporter Online, the appointment was announced by the Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, as part of the administration’s strategic efforts to revitalize and finance the state’s sports sector. The government expressed confidence that Davido’s influence and global recognition would help attract significant local and international investments to strengthen sports development in Osun State.

Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration reaffirmed its commitment to rebuilding sports infrastructure across the state, including the ongoing rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium. The facility, once completed, is expected to meet Olympic standards and serve as a model sports arena in Nigeria.

Adewusi disclosed that the state is also finalizing plans to establish the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as the central authority for sports administration, development, and policy implementation. He emphasized that the newly formed Sports Trust Fund, now chaired by Davido, was designed to ensure sustainable funding and consistent growth in sports across the state.

Expressing optimism, the Deputy Governor commended Davido for accepting the appointment without hesitation, describing it as a move that would “attract resources and partnerships to drive sports excellence in Osun.”
