Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that his father advised him to stay away from politics and government affairs.

According to Ireporter Online, the singer disclosed this during a livestream with streamer Dravel while discussing his involvement in the Osun State governorship election, where Governor Ademola Adeleke is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party.

Davido said his father was concerned about his decision to become actively involved in politics but explained that he remained confident because of the popularity and support he enjoys among Nigerians.

The singer maintained that his participation in the election would contribute to the success of his camp, expressing optimism that they would emerge victorious at the polls.

Davido also alleged that some social media users had received ₦100,000 from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to promote the party on X. He claimed to know some of those allegedly involved, although the allegation has not been independently verified.

The singer further accused the APC of being unwilling to conduct a free and fair election, alleging that the party could resort to violence because of concerns about losing the poll. The claims were not independently verified.

Davido said his camp would not tolerate violence during the election and expressed confidence that their expected victory would provide hope for Nigerians.

He also argued that resources generated by Osun State should be used for the development of the state rather than being diverted elsewhere.
