Tinubu To Nigerians: ‘Whatever Our Differences, We Must Talk And Remain United
President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to promoting peace and called on citizens to remain united despite their religious, ethnic and political differences.
According to Ireporter Online, Tinubu made the appeal on Tuesday at the International Conference on Security and National Unity organised by Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) in partnership with the Muslim World League.
Represented at the event by Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, the President said his administration remained committed to tackling the country’s security challenges while contributing to peace-building efforts beyond Nigeria’s borders.
Tinubu stressed the importance of dialogue in resolving disagreements and maintaining the unity of the country. He urged Nigerians to continue communicating with one another and resist actions capable of threatening the nation’s cohesion.
The President maintained that Nigerians must recognise their shared responsibility for preserving the country, regardless of their differences.
He described the conference as timely, noting that it was taking place against the backdrop of security challenges affecting several parts of the world.
According to him, the discussions and recommendations from the gathering could contribute significantly to efforts aimed at achieving sustainable peace across Nigeria, Africa and the wider international community.
Tinubu also commended JIBWIS and the Muslim World League for organising the conference and selecting Nigeria as the first country to host the international gathering.
He reiterated the government’s determination to work with other countries and relevant stakeholders to strengthen security, promote peaceful coexistence and build a more stable society.
