Outrage As NBA Demands Justice For Slain Lawyer In Imo

In a statement issued on Thursday, the NBA President, Afam Osigwe (SAN), described the incident as tragic and deeply concerning, emphasizing the growing insecurity faced by legal professionals and citizens across the country.

“This heinous crime is a profound loss to his family, colleagues, and the legal profession as a whole. It is also a grave affront to humanity,” the statement read.

The NBA called for an urgent investigation and swift arrest of those responsible for the lawyer’s murder. The association urged security agencies to expedite their efforts in apprehending the perpetrators to ensure justice is served.

“The NBA unequivocally condemns this senseless act of violence. We urge relevant security agencies to intensify their investigations and swiftly bring the culprits to justice,” the statement continued.

Additionally, the NBA directed its branches in Imo State to work closely with law enforcement agencies, community leaders, and other stakeholders to uncover the circumstances surrounding Barrister Nwowu’s death.

The statement also highlighted the association’s concern for the safety of its members, urging lawyers to remain vigilant and adopt necessary measures to protect themselves while carrying out their professional duties.

Afam Osigwe reaffirmed the NBA’s commitment to advocating for a secure environment for legal practitioners and citizens, free from intimidation and fear.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mr. Chinedu Nwowu during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace,” the NBA President concluded.
