Ovia Decides: Why Dennis Idahosa Is Miles Ahead Of Other Contestants
As the fight for Ovia Federal Constituency in the National Assembly heats up ahead of the 2023 general election, political pundits and stakeholders speculate on how the race would unfold.
Many have emphasized the importance of community development in overcoming poverty and poor living standards in the community as one of the top concerns in selecting a representative.
So today we will look at the fundamental areas of community development and the ability of the leading contenders to serve the good people of Ovia Federal Constituency.
Unfortunately, the PDP is still mired in litigation, making it unclear who their candidate will be at this time; the APC, on the other hand, has the current member serving the constituency, Hon Dennis Idahosa.
Dennis Idahosa has completed at least 73 community development projects between the appropriation years of 2020 and 2022, and many more are still in progress. By the end of the appropriation year of 2023, the lawmaker would be aiming for close to 200.
On education, Dennis Idahosa has completed the construction and refurbishment of over 27 schools, including the installation of solar-powered facilities. He has paid the tuition of residents at the University of Benin and the Usen Polytechnic.
Concerning job creation, Dennis Idahosa has been at the forefront of recruiting Ovia residents into federal agencies; he has been able to ensure that skill acquisition, which has resulted in massive self-employment, is a continuous exercise to the extent that the lawmaker has built numerous skills acquisition centers across Ovia in order to provide firsthand access to world-class training facilities.
Dennis has completed a number of electricity projects, including electrifying over 75 communities, from Ekenhuan barracks to Gelegele community. He has also sponsored three bills and introduced 13 motions on the house floor.
Construction of solar-powered boreholes for potable water across villages, built bridges, provision of health-care facilities, and one-on-one devotion to the less privileged and disabled in various townships.
Ovia has never been this close to reaching such a developmental milestone before.
According to surveys, a large number of voters may have decided to reelect Dennis Idahosa because of his innovative development project, which has given the people of Ovia fresh optimism.
