Owo Massacre : Moses Omo-Ikirodah Condemns Terrorist Attack, Urges Nigerians To Vote For Responsible Governance

Engr. Moses Omo-Ikirodah has condemned the completely unjustified and brutal terrorist attack on church worshippers at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State , which resulted in the deaths of over 50 innocent persons.

In a statement made available to the press, the PDP Etsako Federal Constituency candidate for House of Representatives  said it was disheartening that such heinous act could occur without a single response from the relevant security agencies, demonstrating the government’s unwillingness to address the federation’s security challenges.

“I am heartbroken to learn about the horrible terrorist attack in Owo; my heartfelt condolences go out to the parish, the Catholic diocese of Owo, the people and government of Ondo State, and the Christian community in general.

No rationale could justify such a massive display of extreme violence. Those who carried out this heinous attack on a sacred place of worship clearly do not share any religious, humane, or moral principles; We must come together as a nation and start seeing ourselves as brothers and sisters, regardless of religion or tribe.

The preparators and sponsors of this terrorist acts  must be brought swiftly to justice.

It is a moment of pain in a time of confusion. Terrorism and violence have no place in our society. The Bible says in Proverbs 29:2 “When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they people groan.”

It is apparent that the current government has failed Nigerians in its fundamental responsibility of ensuring security and welfare for its citizens.

I really urge Nigerians to unite in prayer for peace while taking this electoral process seriously by registering to vote and electing leaders who are compassionate and sympathetic to the country’s and citizens’ needs for transformative leadership.”

Moses Omo-Ikirodah took use of the opportunity to call on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to extend the voter registration deadline to allow more time for eligible Nigerians to exercise their right to vote for credible and competent leaders.

According to him, one of the panaceas for resolving the nation’s grave security concerns is to have godly and responsible leadership at all levels of government.
