PDP Chieftain Sets Massive 90% Ekiti Vote Target For Tinubu’s Re-election

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Dr Oluwole Oluyede, has declared his intention to mobilise 90 per cent of the state’s registered voters in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

According to Ireporter Online, Oluyede, who was the PDP governorship candidate in the June 20, 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, said the ambitious target could be achieved through extensive grassroots mobilisation across the state.

The PDP chieftain made the declaration in a statement released in Ado Ekiti, calling on members and supporters of different political parties, including the PDP and All Progressives Congress (APC), to join efforts aimed at supporting Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

Oluyede said the 2027 presidential election should be viewed as an opportunity to consolidate ongoing development and reforms rather than merely another political contest.

He maintained that President Tinubu deserved another term in office, arguing that the country needed continuity to allow ongoing reforms to mature.

“I believe President Bola Tinubu deserves a second term. Nigeria cannot continue to start all over again every four years. If we have begun a process of reform, we must allow that process to mature and consolidate,” he said.

Oluyede stated that he was prepared to work with Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, and other political stakeholders to achieve the 90 per cent target.

He said his mobilisation team would take its campaign across communities, households, wards and other grassroots structures throughout the state to explain why it believes Tinubu should be given another term.

According to him, the target goes beyond winning an election and is also intended to build political cooperation among different groups in Ekiti State while strengthening the relationship between the state and the Federal Government.

“It is a huge target, but it is achievable. We are going to work for it,” Oluyede said.

He disclosed that extensive grassroots mobilisation would be carried out across Ekiti State’s 16 local government areas and 177 wards.

The PDP chieftain also dismissed suggestions that he had withdrawn from politics after taking a two-week holiday following the governorship election.

Oluyede explained that the break came after a demanding period of consultations and political engagements and gave him an opportunity to rest and reflect on developments in Ekiti State and Nigeria.

He said some of his political consultations were focused on bringing people from the PDP, APC and other groups together, insisting that the interests of Ekiti State and Nigeria should take priority over party affiliations.

Oluyede further disclosed that he met with President Tinubu following the governorship election after receiving an invitation from the President.

According to him, they held discussions and agreed to work together towards the 2027 presidential election.

He also revealed that he held discussions with Governor Oyebanji, saying both men agreed that political differences should not prevent them from working together for the development and future of Ekiti State.

Oluyede maintained that his engagements across political lines were part of a broader effort to build unity and cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections.
