During a visit to Governor Duoye Diri’s residence in Bayelsa State, the PDP National Treasurer, Alhaji Ahmed Yayare, emphasized the necessity of party unity, asserting that the PDP remains the only viable opposition in Nigeria.

In a related development in Bauchi State, Governor Senator Bala Mohammed reiterated his commitment to the party’s mission and national development during a condolence visit by members of the National Working Committee (NWC), following the passing of his stepmother.

Additionally, in Bauchi, a significant number of youths and other members from the All Progressives Congress (APC) defected to the PDP, showcasing the party’s growing influence.

Yayare noted that due to the current economic discontent, the PDP is poised to secure more gubernatorial positions in the upcoming election. He stated that if the PDP does not take control, it could spell the end of democracy in the nation.

He called on governors to rally support and focus on collective efforts, saying, “The cry of hunger and poverty is overwhelming. The 36 states of Nigeria are yearning for PDP’s leadership.”

Diri responded by highlighting the need for close collaboration among governors and called for a united approach to party matters without letting personal differences lead to discord.

He also endorsed the concept of forming a larger coalition party, with the PDP taking a leading role, to reclaim power at the federal level.

Meanwhile, thousands celebrated the defection of members from the APC to the PDP at an event in Bauchi, reflecting a significant shift in political dynamics as new members expressed their desire to contribute to the state’s development under PDP leadership.
