PDP South-West Dismisses Alleged Makinde Impeachment Rumours, Blasts Fayose Over Claims

The party’s Zonal Secretary, Sanya Atofarati, made this position known on Monday during a press briefing held at the PDP South-West secretariat, Adagunodo House, in Ibadan, where he stressed that no such impeachment process exists within the Oyo State House of Assembly or the party structure.

Atofarati stated that the rumours were deliberately fabricated to generate political tension and mislead the public, adding that lawmakers in the state had already distanced themselves from any such agenda being circulated in political spaces.

He further noted that the controversy had drawn in several political and traditional figures, but insisted that the narrative was being exaggerated for ulterior motives. The situation had also sparked reactions from former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, who alleged that there were hidden political intentions targeting key traditional institutions in Oyo State.

However, Fayose’s claims were strongly rejected by the PDP South-West leadership, which described his comments as irresponsible and capable of inflaming public sentiment and disrespecting revered cultural institutions.

Atofarati warned against what he termed deliberate attempts by certain political actors to create unnecessary unrest, urging the public to remain calm and disregard unfounded reports.

He reaffirmed the party’s full support for Governor Makinde, commending his administration for what he described as stability, developmental focus, and commitment to democratic governance in the state.

The PDP South-West leadership also reiterated its confidence in the governor’s leadership, stating that his administration continues to strengthen democratic values while delivering meaningful progress to the people of Oyo State.

The party further restated its loyalty to the national leadership of the PDP, affirming its commitment to unity, people-oriented governance, and sustained political stability across the region.
