Their primary demand is for the highest court to render a just decision that validates the mandate of the people of Kano in favor of Yusuf.

The protest unfolded in the Rogo local government area of the state, commencing with a prayer session for divine intervention. Subsequently, the participants marched through the streets, brandishing placards with various messages.

Regrettably, the protest escalated into disorder, leading to the burning of a vehicle on the streets. In response, the police have issued a ban on all political gatherings and protests, both within and outside the metropolis.

On December 21, 2023, the Supreme Court reserved its judgment on Yusuf’s appeal challenging the decisions of the Court of Appeal and the State Election Petitions Tribunal, which ousted him from office and declared Gawuna the winner.

The five-member panel, headed by Justice John Okoro, reserved the judgment following the presentation of arguments by the involved parties.
