Police Complaints Unit Now Open 24 Hours Daily — IGP Disu Directs

He restated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to accountability, professionalism, and public trust, emphasizing ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening the CRU as an accessible channel for citizens to report cases of misconduct and unethical behaviour by police officers.

In a decisive move, the IGP directed that the Complaints Response Unit remain fully operational on a 24-hour, seven-day basis, ensuring continuous access for members of the public to report issues such as abuse of office, extortion, human rights violations, and other forms of professional misconduct.

The directive was issued during an emergency conference with Commissioners of Police and members of the press held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja, as contained in a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid.

The police chief stressed that accountability remains a central pillar of the ongoing reform agenda within the Force, noting that all legitimate complaints from citizens will continue to receive prompt attention and appropriate action.

He further urged Nigerians to responsibly utilize the complaint channels provided, stating that public cooperation is essential in building a more transparent, responsive, and citizen-focused police institution.

The statement also assured that all reports submitted through the CRU are treated with strict confidentiality and seriousness, while disciplinary measures will be taken against personnel found culpable after proper investigation.
