The tragic event unfolded on Tuesday around 2 p.m. when Olayinka, who had disembarked from a motorcycle, was accosted by the three officers. They reportedly forced him to the ground. The victim had gone to retrieve N1,000 he had transferred earlier to a Point of Sale (POS) operator, intending to pay the motorcycle rider for his service.

An eyewitness recalled that the officers dragged Olayinka to the ground without explanation. Despite his repeated pleas to know what he had done wrong and informing the officers that he suffered from asthma, his pleas were ignored.

The police spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that a complaint of cheating and criminal breach of trust had been reported against the deceased. The police promptly launched an investigation, and the officers involved were identified, arrested, and detained for further questioning.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
