Inspector-General Of Police Acts Swiftly Against Officers Involved In ₦10m Extortion In Bayelsa

In a statement on Friday, Egbetokun revealed that the officers have been detained and are undergoing an orderly room trial. The extorted funds have been recovered through the intervention of the new Assistant Inspector-General of Police overseeing Zone 16.
The officers identified in the incident include ASP Emmanuel Ubong, Inspector Nse Okon, Inspector Adiewere Collins, and Inspector Kuromare Marine.
Egbetokun condemned the actions of the officers, affirming that under his leadership, the Nigeria Police Force would not tolerate corruption or abuse of power. He stressed that any officer found guilty would face severe consequences.
“The Nigeria Police Force has a zero-tolerance policy for corruption, and allegations of extortion are treated with utmost seriousness,” the IGP stated. He assured the public that thorough investigations would be carried out and emphasized that restorative justice would prevail for any officer found guilty, no matter their rank.
