Police Raid Criminal Hideout, Arrest Four Suspects In Rivers

The operation, conducted on Blessing Street in the Kom-Kom area of Oyigbo, resulted in the recovery of one live round of ammunition and containers containing substances suspected to be hard drugs.

In a statement released in Port Harcourt on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrests and stated that the suspects had confessed to being part of a criminal syndicate responsible for various acts of terror in Oyigbo and neighboring areas.

The statement identified the suspects as Peter Victor, 38, from Una Eket, Akwa Ibom State; Joshua Ibe, 25, from Amadugba, Orlu LGA, Imo State; Shedrack David, 22, from Ikotumoesen, Eseni Udim LGA, Akwa Ibom State; and Joseph Acholam, 23, from Arochukwu LGA, Abia State.

Items recovered during the raid included:

• One round of 7.62×51mm live ammunition.
• Containers with liquid substances suspected to be hard drugs.

According to Iringe-Koko, the suspects are providing valuable information to aid ongoing investigations aimed at apprehending other syndicate members and recovering additional weapons.

The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating criminal activities and urged the public to provide timely information to assist law enforcement in ensuring the safety of residents.

Interception of Stolen Telecommunications Equipment
In a related development, the police intercepted a black Toyota Sienna transporting stolen telecommunications equipment during a routine stop-and-search operation on the East-West Road.

The vehicle, with registration number ABIA, APR 455 HW, was driven by a suspect identified as Frank Ukpebitere. Upon inspection, officers discovered 2,000 tons of 48 VDC Power System Cabinets belonging to Airtel Telecommunications Company.

The suspect was unable to provide satisfactory documentation for the items, which are suspected to have been stolen. Both the suspect and the recovered equipment are in police custody as investigations continue.
