In an interview with the BBC Hausa Service on Monday, Governor Sani explained that the peace deal followed six months of negotiations and did not involve any monetary compensation for the bandits.
“We did not pay them a single Naira. Our focus is on ensuring the safety of our people and maintaining peace in the state,” Sani said.

The governor revealed that the peace process was facilitated through the efforts of traditional rulers and religious leaders, who played key roles during the months-long discreet discussions.
