The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed this development in a statement released on Saturday, addressing the tragic outcome of the recent kidnapping incident.

One of the abducted girls, Najeebah, was reportedly killed by gunmen who had taken her and five other sisters captive in Abuja.

According to Adejobi, the kidnappers released the girls’ father, instructing him to secure a N60 million ransom for the release of his daughters before Friday, January 12.

Unfortunately, unable to meet the demand, the criminals killed Najeebah, leaving her body for her grieving parents to bury.

Adejobi conveyed that the Inspector General, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the escalation of tactical intelligence teams in the fight against kidnapping. While specific details are being kept confidential to protect ongoing operations, Adejobi assured the public that all necessary efforts are underway to rescue the remaining victims.

In his statement, Adejobi stressed the importance of discretion due to the sensitivity of the situation. He mentioned that the NPF is actively engaging individuals crucial to the rescue operations and investigation, emphasizing the objective to bring perpetrators to justice and intensify efforts to free victims still in captivity.

The Police Commissioner urged the public to contribute to the efforts by providing useful information to the force. Recognizing the psychological impact on affected families, the police are encouraging open communication to offer support and assistance, mitigating the psychological toll imposed by kidnappers on the relatives and loved ones of their victims.

Additionally, Egbetokun has taken proactive measures by deploying police officers with enhanced security equipment to be stationed along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway. This deployment aims to ensure the safety of travelers in response to the rising incidents of kidnappings along the route.
