Political Sabotage? LP Secretariat Under Siege In Lagos, Offices Vandalized, Millions Stolen
In a shocking turn of events, no fewer than 300 armed thugs stormed the Labour Party (LP) secretariat in Ikeja GRA, Lagos, on Monday, making away with millions of naira in cash and looting other valuable items……..READ MORE
Ireporter gathered that the attackers invaded the premises at about 10 a.m., wreaking havoc as they vandalized offices, stole sensitive documents, and carted off huge sums of money.
Although police officers reportedly arrived at the scene shortly after the invasion, the perpetrators had already fled, leaving behind a trail of destruction. No arrests have been made as of the time of filing this report.
Authorities say investigations have begun to unravel the motive behind the attack and apprehend those responsible.
This violent assault comes amid an intensifying leadership tussle within the Labour Party. On the same day, LP National Chairman, Julius Abure, addressed the situation during a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, dismissing claims that his leadership has expired.
“There is no leadership vacuum in the Labour Party,” Abure declared. “The Supreme Court never ruled that my tenure or that of the current National Working Committee has ended.”
Abure also slammed the formation of a caretaker committee by a rival faction, describing it as “illegal” and “a desperate plot to destabilize the party.”
He further asserted that the alleged NEC meeting held in Umuahia, Abia State, was a sham, adding that the so-called committee is nothing more than a group of political saboteurs.
As the LP leadership crisis continues to spiral, Monday’s violent attack on the Lagos secretariat adds another layer of chaos to the already turbulent situation.
