President Tinubu Declares Readiness For 2027

President Bola Tinubu has declared his readiness to seek re-election in the 2027 general election, stating that he remains committed to continuing his administration’s agenda of national renewal and democratic consolidation.

According to Ireporter Online, Tinubu made the declaration on Thursday during a meeting with leaders and coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he emphasized his determination to strengthen governance, reduce poverty, and promote freedom and democratic stability in the country.

The President stated that his mission is to “break the shackles of ignorance and poverty” while ensuring that democracy not only survives but delivers meaningful benefits to Nigerians. He also stressed the importance of upholding constitutional principles, including separation of powers and respect for the judiciary, even in situations where court rulings may not favour certain interests.

Tinubu, in a pointed remark directed at opposition figures, dismissed what he described as political distractions and “noise-making,” insisting that he remains focused and undeterred by political criticism. He further noted that he is familiar with the dynamics of opposition politics and would not be intimidated by what he termed their tactics.

“They want to scare me off? It’s a lie. I have been through this path before, and if I have to come back over and over again, I will do the same thing,” he was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, presidential aide Bayo Onanuga has criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his renewed interest in the 2027 presidential race, accusing him of disregarding political zoning arrangements and contributing to internal tensions within opposition parties.

Onanuga argued that Atiku’s political ambitions have consistently ignored the principle of power rotation, which he said favours southern candidates for the 2027 cycle. He further claimed that such actions have previously caused divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and could create similar instability in the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He, however, predicted that Atiku would be defeated decisively at the polls, describing him as someone who “never learns” from past electoral outcomes.
