Odoh, appointed as vice-chancellor on October 29, faced backlash over his claims of serving as a visiting professor at the Federal University, Gusau, which both the institution and its ASUU chapter refuted. Following his appointment, the Federal Ministry of Education invalidated the decision, citing procedural lapses and the failure to involve key stakeholders in the appointment process.

In response, Odoh defended his appointment, stating that the Ministry lacked the authority to annul it. However, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) condemned the appointments, labeling them illegal.

Now, sources reveal that President Tinubu has approved the dismissal of the UNIZIK Governing Council members, and an official announcement from the Ministry of Education is expected soon. It remains unclear whether Odoh will retain his position as Vice-Chancellor following the council’s dissolution.
