Regional Development Minister Momoh Abubakar Condoles with Family, Owan Community Over Borno Killing of Brig. Gen. Braimah
The Minister of Regional Development, Momoh Abubakar, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Brigadier General Oseni O. Braimah, a senior Nigerian Army officer who was killed in a terrorist attack in Borno State.
In a condolence message issued on Saturday, Momoh Abubakar described the late Brigadier General as a gallant and dedicated officer who paid the supreme price while defending the nation.The attack occurred on April 9, 2026, at a military installation in Benisheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.
Brigadier General Braimah, who served as Brigade Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade under Operation Hadin Kai, was among several soldiers who lost their lives during the assault by suspected insurgents.“Brigadier General Braimah, a proud son of Owanland in Edo State, was a brave and selfless officer who served Nigeria with utmost professionalism and commitment. His supreme sacrifice will never be forgotten,” the Minister stated.
Engr. Abubakar Momoh extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Regional Development and his family to the bereaved immediate family of the deceased, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the people of Owanland, and the entire Edo State.
He also commiserated with the families of other soldiers who fell in the incident, saying their blood shall not be shed in vain.The Minister urged the Nigerian military to remain resolute in the fight against insurgency and terrorism, assuring that the entire nation stands solidly behind the troops.
He prayed that God grant the soul of Brigadier General Oseni O. Braimah and all the fallen heroes eternal rest, while comforting their families and the people of Owanland and Edo State with the strength to bear the irreparable loss.Brigadier General Oseni Braimah hailed from Owanland in Edo North Senatorial District.
His death has triggered widespread mourning across Edo State and the Nigerian military community.
President Bola Tinubu and other notable Nigerians have also sent similar messages of condolence to the family and the Armed Forces.May the soul of the departed rest in perfect peace.
