REVEALED: What Tinubu Told Service Chiefs Behind Closed Doors Amid Escalating Insecurity

Speaking to journalists after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu and other top security officials at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, General Musa disclosed that the President had approved the procurement of additional air assets to enhance ongoing counter-insurgency operations.

He noted that new military equipment has already been acquired to strengthen the campaign against terrorist groups, whose activities have intensified, particularly in northern Nigeria.

“Mr. President has issued clear directives to escalate our operations. We are also working closely with neighbouring countries, as our porous borders are contributing significantly to the security challenges,” General Musa stated.

He further explained that military operations across various regions are being scaled up, with a particular focus on air power and other essential security tools.

Beyond combat strategies, the CDS emphasized the government’s non-kinetic approach, which involves grassroots development and engagement with communities to tackle insecurity at its roots.

“The President is engaging with state governors to ensure the dividends of democracy reach the people, which is a critical step in reducing the appeal of criminality,” he added.

General Musa attributed the escalating threats to a wider international jihadist movement operating in the Sahel region, stressing that Nigeria’s porous borders have made it vulnerable to these external forces.

He said the meeting with President Tinubu was centered on assessing and finding lasting solutions to the country’s security problems.

“Mr. President is deeply concerned about the current security landscape and is committed to turning things around. We, the service chiefs, have pledged our full dedication to restoring peace and stability,” he affirmed.

He also called on Nigerians to continue supporting the Armed Forces and security agencies, urging the public to remain vigilant against misinformation, especially misleading videos circulating online.

“It’s vital that citizens cooperate with security personnel. If anyone witnesses misconduct by our forces or identifies threats, they should report it. Rest assured, action will be taken,” General Musa concluded.
